Past Gas Price

Pursuant to the Government’s decision to set the consumer gas price sold by Gas Malaysia Energy Services Sdn. Bhd. (GMES) in the gas distribution segment for a period of two (2) years starting from 1 January 2020 until 31 December 2021 with the price being reviewed every year, the details of which are as follow:

Gas price to existing GMB consumers until expiry of GSA:

1. All existing Gas Malaysia Berhad (GMB) consumers will enjoy a fixed gas price for 2 years starting 1 January 2020 until 31 December 2021. The government has fixed the consumer gas price at the average price of RM33.65/mmbtu for the year 2020. The price for the year 2021 shall be reviewed and set by the government before end of 2020.
2. Gas price to consumers beginning 1 January 2022 shall be on a willing-buyer willing-seller basis including the terms and conditions of the gas sales agreement. 

Option for TPA:

1. Any consumer may enter into a new GSA with any supplier on a willing-buyer willing-seller basis at any time within the Take-or-Pay provision as stipulated in the GSA with GMES and the terms of the GSA with GMES shall prevail.
2. Any consumer who requires a volume of gas above the DQ with GMES may acquire the gas from any supplier on a willing-buyer willing-seller basis.
3. Any consumer whose GSA with GMES expires in 2020 and 2021 may opt to choose any suppliers on a willing-buyer willing-seller basis after the expiry of the GSA.
4. A single metering facility can be used by multiple suppliers at the same time, provided always there is no technical limitation. Management of multiple GSAs over a single metering facility shall be done through the Allocation Principle approved by ST.
